Understand the difference between administering a membership in the JustCo account and being the legal owner of the Membership Agreement.
Account administration and Membership Agreement (MA) ownership are related, but they are not the same thing.
What is account administration?
Account administration means managing the membership in the JustCo App.
Depending on the assigned role, an administrator may be able to:
- view the Membership Agreement;
- manage Company Members;
- renew or cancel memberships; and
- manage billing-related functions.
What is Membership Agreement ownership?
Membership Agreement ownership refers to the legal party responsible under the Membership Agreement.
This is the person or entity that originally entered into the agreement, unless the agreement has been formally transferred.
Does making someone a Primary Member change the Membership Agreement owner?
No. Making someone a Primary Member only gives them administrative rights in the account.
It does not change the legal owner of the Membership Agreement.
How can the Membership Agreement owner change?
The Membership Agreement can only change hands through a formal novation.
Until a novation is completed, the legal responsibility for the Membership Agreement remains with the original agreement holder.
Why does this distinction matter?
It is possible for one employee to administer the account while another person or entity remains the legal owner of the Membership Agreement.
This allows day-to-day account administration to be managed operationally, while preserving the legal position of the agreement until a formal transfer is completed.
