What is the difference between company account roles and workspace access?

JustCo Support Services -

Understand the difference between company account roles and workspace access, and why adding a user to the account does not automatically allow them to enter the workspace.

Company account roles and workspace access are related, but they are not the same thing.

What is a company account role?

A company account role determines what a person can see or manage in the JustCo account.

Common roles include:

  • Primary Member – can manage the membership and key account functions.
  • General Member – can use the membership rights assigned to them.
  • Billing Member – can view billing-related information, but does not receive workspace access rights.

What is workspace access?

Workspace access means the ability to enter and use the JustCo centre.

This is controlled separately through a valid digital access keycard.

Does adding someone to the company account automatically give them workspace access?

No. Adding someone to the company account only creates their user profile and role.

They can only enter the workspace after a valid digital access keycard has been assigned to them.

Can someone manage the account without entering the workspace?

Yes. For example, a Billing Member may manage invoices and documents without needing workspace access.

Can someone enter the workspace without being an account administrator?

Yes. A team member who has a General Member role may have a valid digital access keycard and workspace access, but not have administrative rights over the account.

Why does this distinction matter?

This helps companies assign the right people to the right functions. Some users need to manage memberships and billing, while others only need access to the workspace.
